Stuff's been happening!

It's been nearly six months since I bought this very clever domain name and set up this website and nearly six months since I posted to it.

Real life, in the form of some actual paid copywriting work, has got in the way. But behind the scenes there has been a flurry of activity and a not inconsiderable amount of progress towards what is a fairly nebulous goal.

So, in roughly chronological order, over the last six months I have done the following things with the goal of internetting better:

moved exclusively from a pixel 8a to a fairphone 6

hibernated instagram

moved from android to ios to graphene to ios to iode

paid for a Proton account

moved a 160gb photo library from google photos to pixelunion.eu

opened a protonmail account

moved (xgb of data) from Google Drive to proton drive

moved 22 years of email from gmail to proton mail

deleted spotify account and joined qobuz

bought a 2015 macbook pro from a colleague

replaced macos with linux mint cinammon

replaced linux mint cinnamon with linux mint xfce

replaced linux mint xfce with linux mint cinnamon

sold the macbook pro on ebay

turned Pixelbook go chromebook into dual booting chultrabook

spent 2 hours copying commands from Gemini to get chromebook speakers working on linux

gave up

bought a 2017 lenovo thinkpad t480 on backmarket

received 2020 lenovo thinkpad t14

wiped windows and replaced with linux elementaryos

realised that I'd received the wrong computer - kept it anyway

bought a subscription to The Verge

Paid for a Typora licence

Downloaded feedflow rss reader onto macbook, pixelbook and thinkpad

I'm sure that there's plenty that I've done that I've missed, and plenty that I've failed to do that I've also missed. Over the next few weeks I'll try and write about some of these things in a bit more detail: the fear of losing baby photos. The leap to linux. How boring I've become. And I'll also write a post about the things I've failed to do so far, in the hope that I can address at least some of these things before rl interrupts again.
